We are honored and excited to offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a study of this gospel with our newest online course: The Book of Mark (NT550). This course, taught by Rev. Terry Mahan, one of our veteran faculty members and the Founding, Senior Pastor of The Father’s House in Leesburg, Florida, reveals interesting and profound insights about the gospel of Mark.
After completion of this course, not only will you be thoroughly acquainted with Mark's gospel, but you'll also:
- Appreciate how Jesus relates to hurting people
- Draw upon Christ's model of servanthood to actualize servanthood in your own life
- Gain an appreciation for how God speaks through the experiences of previous generations who had similar needs and hopes
- Express to others the Good News of Jesus Christ
The average reader can read the gospel according to Mark in less than 2 hours. It's a short, fast-paced and to-the-point interpretation of the life of Jesus. Despite its brevity, Mark's gospel is pivotal.
In its infancy, the Christian church was being persecuted, and those who had experienced Jesus' life firsthand were dying off. Moved by the Holy Spirit, John Mark wrote what church historians and scholars generally agree was the first gospel written. He reveals to us a Servant who is courageous, compassionate and confident. Both Matthew and Luke probably used parts of Mark's gospel to write their accounts.
Enroll in "The Book of Mark" and learn about the groundbreaking literary style, the nonsequential structure, the way Jesus answered questions, and how Jesus became our Messiah through servanthood. We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving.
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." ~ Mark 10:45
