With Dr. Randal Langley, President of CLST Global & Founder of Langley Leadership Group
In today’s fast-paced ministry and marketplace environments, leaders face constant pressure to deliver results, inspire their teams and cultivate healthy organizational cultures. In a recent webinar, Dr. Randal Langley shared practical strategies for multiplying both output and margin by focusing on the essentials of team productivity.
The Foundation: Lead Yourself First
Dr. Langley reminded leaders that everything rises and falls on leadership. Before building a productive team, leaders must first model personal productivity and self-leadership. Teams naturally reflect the habits, discipline, and vision of their leaders.
Three Proven Strategies for Building a Productive Team
1. Invest in Skills Training & Development
Every team member needs the specific skills required to excel in their role. Whether in business, ministry or education, competence matters. Leaders must invest in training that equips people not only to understand their work but also to apply it with excellence.
2. Implement a Proven Leadership Development Process
Inspiration alone is not enough. Conferences and seminars can spark ideas, but true transformation comes from intentional processes that lead to changed behaviors. Dr. Langley emphasized the importance of ongoing leadership development—helping individuals grow in personal productivity, delegation, goal setting and communication. When leaders get better, everyone gets better.
3. Adopt a Framework for Collaboration and Organizational Health
Using tools like the Working Genius assessment, leaders can place team members in roles where they thrive, not just survive. This framework helps identify what brings energy and joy to each person, leading to higher engagement, more effective collaboration, and healthier team culture. As Dr. Langley noted, “Workers are more productive when they are happier.”
A Vision for Thriving Teams
Building a productive team isn’t just about hitting goals—it’s about creating an environment where people thrive in their strengths and align around a common mission. Quoting Mother Teresa, Dr. Langley reminded us:
“I can do things you cannot. You can do things I cannot. But together we can do great things.”
At Christian Life school of Theology Global, our mission is to empower leaders to bridge the gap between vision and execution.
