You’ve been called to ministry, and you want to help that vocation to flourish–but you’re wondering how you will fit schooling into an already busy life.
You need something with flexibility that won’t disrupt your current routine. Online Bible college is the natural next step … but how do you know which one is right for you?
If you are searching for the right fit, here are a few things to look for in an online Bible college.
1. Theological Alignment
There is a wide range of denominational and doctrinal differences between Bible schools. Researching your options and reading their statements of faith and/or articles of belief is a critical component of selecting the right school. Ensuring that the school you land on is sound in its doctrine and that its theology aligns with your denomination (whether evangelical, liturgical, or inter-denominational) will make sure you are equipped for your ministry vocation.
2. Ease of Enrollment
Finding the right school is hard enough–enrolling doesn’t have to be. When searching for a Bible school, it is important to look into open enrollment policies, course lengths, and waiting periods after enrollment. This ensures that when you find the right fit, you don’t encounter unexpected delays for getting your education started. If your life is already feeling overscheduled, you may want to consider asynchronous learning as an option. Asynchronous learning allows you to complete coursework on your own schedule, so you are not having to work around specific class times that interfere with your day-to-day life.
Looking to get started ASAP? We offer asynchronous, completely online learning that is customizable to your lifestyle. You aren’t locked into semesters or designated class times at CLSTG–so when you enroll today, you start today.
3. Flexible Pace
One of the biggest benefits of online Bible colleges is the flexibility they offer. Rather than trying to fit a square peg into a circle by adding full-time education to your already busy lifestyle, online degrees allow you to take your education at your own pace. Online classes adapt to your life, your pace, and your needs. Before deciding on a school, ensure that it will offer the flexibility you’re looking for. Some schools may have a minimum or maximum number of hours you are required to take each semester, or will have set times for class lectures each week. Knowing this upfront ensures you are able to find a school that affords you the flexibility and structure you need.
4. Affordability
Getting a quality education shouldn’t break the bank. When looking for an online Bible school, knowing what it costs will be a major decision-making factor. Understanding tuition or course costs, as well as any financial aid offered, will help you to compare that school with other options and make an informed decision. Be sure to reach out to admissions departments at the schools you’re researching to discuss overall costs and any assistance available to you.
5. Spiritual Enrichment
Receiving an education shouldn’t stop at theory and head knowledge. It should be spiritually enriching. Some colleges offer opportunities to partake in mission or volunteer trips, or to participate in online chapel services. Regardless, the curriculum they use should be both theologically rich and spiritually transformative. By researching schools’ theological viewpoints, testimonials, curriculum, and support staff, you are ensuring that your education shapes your mind and soul for success.
