COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Book of Ecclesiastes is one of the most puzzling and unique books in the Bible. At first glance, it may seem more depressing than inspiring, leading many readers to wonder why such a seemingly bleak book is included in the sacred Scriptures.

Despite the book’s claims that everything is useless, Ecclesiastes is in the Bible for a reason, and this course invites you to explore why. Dr. Ian Bond uncovers its deeper message and reveals why it remains relevant today. Join Dr. Bond for a study of Ecclesiastes, a philosopher’s reflections on life.

GOALS OF THE COURSE

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

Analyze the difficult, controversial and apparently contradictory portions of the text.
Think critically and biblically about the philosophical and practical themes discussed.
Present biblically and intellectually sound arguments for what holds real value in life.
Apply the insights and principles taught in Ecclesiastes to contemporary Christian life and witness.

ABOUT DR. IAN A. H. BOND

Dr. Bond is the Managing Partner at I&J International, LLC. He has also served as President of Teach the Nations, Inc., Chairman of Georgia Rotary Student Program, Director at New Life Financial Services, Lead Pastor at New Life Church of Faith, President of Beacon University, and Executive Director for International Affairs at the Technical College System of Georgia.

During his career spanning more than 30 years, Dr. Bond has gained extensive experience as an entrepreneur, educator, author, motivational speaker, and television talk-show host. He has served as a business leader, senior pastor, college professor, and university president.

He has also served on the boards of various community, regional and national arts, humanitarian, and professional organizations; including the Springer Opera House, Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Georgia Rotary Student Program. He serves on the executive committee of the Association of Christian Educators and Administrators and is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.

Dr. Bond holds a bachelor’s degree from Lancaster University (UK) and a master’s and doctoral degree from Beacon University (USA).
