COURSE DESCRIPTION
It was the custom of Jewish rabbis to invite students/disciples/apprentices to “take their yoke” upon them—to follow them, live like them and master their teachings. Jesus invited his apprentices in the same way, and that invitation is still available to those who want to follow Christ today. This course explores the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, with attention given to the Great Commission: “teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.”
GOALS OF THE COURSE
- Understand the meaning of discipleship (what it means to follow Jesus).
- Understand the content of the yoke of Jesus (His core teachings).
- Understand and apply what it means to observe, keep or obey those teachings in real-life contexts.
